If you could only have 6 basses...

To start, the 5 I already have -

1. J bass, SCN pickups, V/3-way switch/T
2. Stingray w/ 3 band
3. P w/ Quarter Pounder
4. Ibby RB550 strung up BEAD
and 5. Ibby RS800

...then I would add a J-style w/ split coils in place of traditional J pickups. I wanna build such a beast just to see how it turns out. If I don't like it, then just the 5 listed above.

I'd get rid of the top left and right ones (Epiphone EB-0, Schecter CV-5). Purely based on frequency of use, not because I don't like them.

Do any of you also wonder if the majority of readers on these "X number of basses" threads actually read the lists that others post? I'm under the assumption that most folks just post their list and don't bother reading other posters' lists. Am I wrong?

I read them, but I don't know what half of those basses are so it doesn't mean much unless they list a reason after. Like so:

1- Cletus Mcgrittley Snagglesbass, for those thick sausage tones I need down at the Gumbo Haus.

I think I might be hungry. At any rate, the why is more interesting to me than the what.

If I had to lose one, I'd just restring/tune the baritone "strat" up to B standard.
'83 P bass with Hipshot D tuner - everyone needs a P bass
Ric 4003S - current favorite
Ashbury - semi upright sounding
ESP 8 string - big Cheap Trick fan, this seems easier than playing/tuning a 12 string, and the price was right.
Sam Ash Beatle bass - flats, easy to play, light.
AD Musica fretless J 5 string - haven't done much with this one yet, first 5 string
parts baritone - strat shaped and 28.6" scale, currently in E standard (bass) tuning.

I only have 6 bass spots on the wall and thus only keep 6 basses. These are the 6 that I have currently decided make the cut. This is distilled from my experience and preferences on my 20yr bass playing journey. This list is about as wide a spectrum as I prefer.
