Warmoth swamp ash J body w/ Allparts rosewood J neck and Lollar pickups. It usually wins out sonically for most projects and doesn’t crap out above the 12th fret like so many other basses do.
I would miss the other axes with figured maple and extended range, but that J-bass is the one that gets it done.

The “one” would have to be my one of a kind highly modified 2002 EBMM Sterling, it filled the need for a smaller body, J style neck and two highly versatile pickups

In my collection I own 8 laklands, 2 Sandbergs, 2 elricks, a maruszczyk jake 5. I had to think long and hard about this question.

In the end my Roscoe Century standard plus 5 won. While all of my basses are really nice this one is just one another level.
