I know crest is a good brand. I use to have a ca9... It was great but heavy as f*ck . Nesrly broke my back carrying that rack lol

If i wanted to run a gs212 what crest powerlite do you recomend?

I was thinking 3.0 and run it off 1 side. And 8ohm cab and could get another 8 ohm cab in the future and run the other side

Get a 2.0 and run it bridged.

Huh? You must be spending too much time talking to delusional people then. Aguilar amps are as rock solid as you can get. I play gigs at small to medium venues with my TH350 and 2 1x12 cabinets, and I've got tons of power to work with. You can read up lots on here about all sorts of working pros (scotch is one that comes to mind) who gig regularly with the TH350 and TH500 in all sorts of venues and have no problems at all.

So, yeah, I'd say you should definitely be looking at one of the Aggie amps and a couple of cabinets to go with it. I don't ride public transit either, but no way am I ever going with heavy gear anymore, not with how amazing this lightweight stuff sounds. It is both better AND lighter than anything I used to play - you can't go wrong.

We can certainly talk around here. Curious though, where then did you hear all about Class D amp "falling apart" if turned up too high?

Tell us more about your real world needs, what members in your band, the kinds of gigs you play, etc. We can help you but we need more info. ;)

Someone locally at a gig told me, i didn't exactly believe him but it did make me a but skeptical....


I play mostly pop, rock, top 40, bluesy funky bar music... Think commodores, bon jovi, carrie underwood, ac dc ....

I like the idea of th500 and 2 sl112 cabs but i cant find any decent videos online to see how it sounds nor know anyone with these experiences....

I like a clean bass sound, no fuzz.

I'd get the GS112's before the SL's. Cheaper and sound better, especially for the styles you're doing.
The Berg CN112's are another I'd put before the SL's.

I bought two amps this year: The Tone Hammer 500 and the Ampeg PF 800. I like them both, but now I wish I had bought the Tone Hammer and the Prolite 2.0. The TH is just a fantastic amp; I love the parametric mids, and the Drive knob adds great character. The PF 800 is also a great amp, but seems weaker in the mids compared to the TH. With its bridging and 2 ohm capabilities, the Prolite 2.0 would give me much more flexibility to run various cab configurations. AND, since I own the Tone Hammer Preamp/DI pedal, I could run that into the Crest. Even so, if you offered me a Prolite in exchange for my TH amp, I wouldn't do it; that head is just that cool -- small, light, ballsy, just killer.
