If you have a 1990's Ampeg 810...

...I need a favor from a few of you.

If you have some time, could you please pull one of your speakers and write down the part number and the date code? There should be a sticker or printing with those numbers on the speaker somewhere.

As extra credit, those of you who have a different 810 cab from the 810e or the 810av, I would be very interested if you could do the same...Ampeg used a handful of different speakers over the years, and I'm trying to get more info about which cabs had which speakers in the 90's.

You might find it to be less trouble to take off one of the handles and shine a flashlight in there, depending on the cab layout

I don't think they have the side handles like your thinking about, I believe the only handle is a bar in the back.

Ya, I'm just trying to find out info about the speaker they used in the 90's vs what they used in the early 2000's till now. That's great if you can do that. Hope the Mods work out. Johnk likes them. Report back on that when you get a chance too, please.

John, yours should be the 86-032-01 Jerrold talked about in that other thread, right? That's what he said they used for the high power jobbies.

Not sure what you're trying to learn, but I'll bite. Pretty sure mine is a mid-to-late 90s 810E. At least that's when I think I remember buying it. I bought it used, but the 1st owner had it about 3 days before returning it. Bought it from a friend working the store where it was returned ... paid $350 for it.

So you can date the cab, here's the SN:

I = 1996. What's the part number for the post-200ish ones? Do you know for sure when they switched over?

my post 2000 810E cab's speaker have part #86-032-01 in it. i swapped out the top four with 32 ohm Jensen Mod50's and it brought back the mids and highs (clarity and definition)that i found it to be lacking. it sounds alot like a vintage Ampeg 8x10 now, but has a little more low end.

'96, yeah. I've been sitting here looking into Ampeg serial numbers, and just got there myself. That cab sits under my '94 SVTCL, serial number TCLDG60009. That head came with a certificate indicating that its date of manufacture was my birthday, June 9, in 1994. I bought the head new - has it been 15 years already? Wow. I'm getting old.

So these are 100W speakers and this is an 800W cab? I had no idea of the specs on this cab, past 4ohm.

That's date code. 86-032-01 is the part number, and according to Jerrold and Bill, Eminence would never do a major revision and keep the part number.

Yep, that is right. 100w ea (Eminence rates them at 150w, although by the time you figure in the cab I'm sure it's closer to 800 total).

BTW, that's awesome to have a head made on your birthday!
