If your house was burning down...

...what would you save if you were able to carry one instrument?

Honestly, I would save my acoustic guitar. It's a '73 Gibson Southern Jumbo Deluxe. I have renters insurance for the rest of my stuff, but I feel like I could search for the rest of my life and not find another one like it. Second choice would be my Riot-5 if I had time to go back in...

Oh my god! It's last month already! We've done this thread before :).

Yeah, I started one of these a couple of years ago & was nearly crucified by those offended by the concept of grabbing a bass in such a situation- even though, IIRC, I stated in my scenario that ALL living creatures were already out of danger.
On topic I'd grab my cheapest *real* one, a 96 Jazz 5, as it sounds best(in many opinions).

Edit- ancient thoughts on this subject: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/hypothetical-q-housefire-save-bass-444968/ & http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/your-house-fire-bass-do-you-grab-way-out-743701/

If I can't take them all, I'm dying with them. Honestly. I could not choose between my Surf Green Vaccaro Gen X, My Hartke XL-4, my Kubicki's, my Steinies and my Danelectros. The only two I might not grab, because I value my life more, is the Kramer 650B and the Fender MIA Jazz Bass Plus.

So I will need huge arms in that fire or have to suffer a few second and third degree burns. The only thing I would leave behind are my amps. I can thank the Lord that Larry Hartke makes good product and I can get new.

I have my axes insured for replacement value, which is right now about twice or three times what I paid for the entire collection. And even given that, I don't think I would ever want to see my Steinberger Q4 that Ned installed a piezo system in come out of the ashes as just a neck with melted frets.

Nor would want to have my Kubicki's be nothing but some charred and smoked wood.

Guess I have to start building that fire proof, with temperature controls to make sure nothing got hot enough to melt, vault now....

even though all my basses have very sentimental connections, they are really nothin irreplaceable. i would have to say my ampeg svp-bsp preamp. thats the one thing i couldnt live without and would be nearly impossible to replace.
