I'll miss you, Chef.

I’ve been away a long time and just saw this. I always loved when he would pop up on a g&l post. Very sad to learn of his passing. R.I.P.

His dog Annie (I assume his brother Doug or his sister) now has a FB page...which is a nice reminder of Alan to see every day.

There is also a relatively recent picture of Alan and one of his dog Annie (sleeping) on the Baer Amplification FB page.

RIP, Chef. Didn't spot the "In Memoriam" under his name until recently.
I just got a new bass, a Lakland 55-02 Deluxe (pic here). Knowing from various posts that he used to have a 55-02, I consider naming the bass "Alan" in his honour.
And, yes, I admit I've received a warning/deleted post notification PM from him a few years ago.

Respect for your ax named Alan. May he rest knowing how well he is remembered.

You’re not alone. A few of us have been through one. I was not aware Chef was fighting his own battle. It’s always a bit more personal when you’re fighting or, have fought a cancer battle yourself when you hear of someone else going through the same thing.

RIP Chef.
I battled prostate cancer 9 years ago and with surgery and radiation have been blessed to be still alive and still playing bass. It could all change tomorrow, that’s why I take every day, one at a time

Man, just sitting here with such a heavy heart. Thinking back to any moderation or "official business" that he posted… just a stellar and fair man. Alan contributed so much to our community, even the 100s here who don't know the username of Chef have been impacted by what he gave to us.

I've re-upped my supporting membership in honor of what he wanted to build here. If you'd like to do the same, see the "^ Become a Supporting Member" link at the top of any TB page.

Back when the Squier Precision Five came out, Chef started a 'Who's Got One' thread that TB at its best with all kinds of owners chiming in about what worked and what didn't. I learned a LOT from that one.

It's hard enough, but the picture of the dog waiting for a guy that ain't coming back just makes it worse.

God Rest, Chef. The best a man can hope for is to be really missed by his friends, and you sure are.
