I'll miss you, Chef.

I was sad to learn this morning that Annie passed as well a few weeks ago. I decided to visit Alan's Facebook site this morning and read the news there. I hope they are together.

Yes, I'm sure they are. Alan's sister took care of Annie after he passed. She was also fairly elderly and not in great health (given age), and I think missing him probably was the last straw.

Just got the news wandering in the threads.
It’s terrible, I thought forum members just vanished and brought no more news.
Didn’t get that FB effect and other links between members.
Don’t know much about Chef but his Markbass group lead, his posts here and positive feeling I got, that news makes me really really sad and feel special the sun’s warmth thru the window in this cold january morning.

Alan's positive attitude, even when he was acting in "moderator mode," was really amazing, and rather contagious. We are all quite a bit better off for having known him, for sure.

This one passed through Alan's hands. I think of him each time I play it which means pretty much daily.

Haven't been around TB in many years, but I ran across this thread this morning. Alan and I had many correspondences through TB over the 2000's, and did a few deals along the way, passing gear back and forth.

Echoing the sentiments here, not only one of TB's OG's, but I can't think of a better ambassador of the site and all that it's embodied in terms of a supportive community of low enders, encouraging on another.

I just posted in Adrian's thread, remembering him. Learning of Alan's passing is sad news to return to. He will definitely be missed!

Just rejoined talkbass after a 12 years absence and just found this out. I’ve talked to Alan several times in the early 2000s to early 2010s and this is not what I wanted to hear. So sad. May he rest in peace
It was especially heartbreaking for those of us who connected with him on Facebook. One of those deals where he went to the doc one day and got some really bad news, a year or so later he was gone, and he chronicled the whole thing that happened in between.

There was one particular post where he felt like he might have gotten ahead of it, then got the "it's back" prognosis that seems so common, and you could tell he knew his number had been called. I think maybe 30-45 days later he was gone.

A wonderful soul lost to us.
