I'll miss you, Chef.

Just got word from a mutual friend that TB's Chef has passed away.

He's been fighting cancer for the past year or so, thought he was in remission but it wasn't to be.

Alan is someone I first knew here on TB but we became friends on Facebook and he's been a constant and regular friend there for a few years. Beyond being a great player, he was a kind, gentle, sweet and devoted human. He was always thoughtful, and relentlessly tried to be positive and the best person he could be. I know that a few years back, the death of his mother hit him hard and even years after her passing, she was always in the forefront of his thoughts. He also was very much a dog lover, who spent most of his waking time with Annie, his constant companion.

Alan, my world is a little bit lesser for you not being with us anymore, but my life is richer for having known you.

This one really hurts. We didn't have all that much contact here, but we were frequent regular facebook friends, both in messaging and publicly. I'm so glad that I got to know him...and his true zen-like philosophy. He was also so loving and funny and giving.

I’ll never think the same way about the 1980 fretless L-1000 neck I bought from him. We shared an affection for those basses. ...and many other things. RIP Alan.

Chef and I swapped many private messages a few years ago when I was plotting out my first Valenti build. Our exchanges were fun as we discovered we had a few things in common beyond bass and gear. He was a good dude.

I'm shocked to learn of the news. Hats off to Chef.
