I'm at it again...NBD tomorrow (SQUIER?)

Here's a link from the gig today. Bass is live, no PA support. Recorded on an Iphone. You can hear the bass very clear

BTW that was my wife in the black, and my daughter blowing me kisses. Who could ask for more.

Awww. I have the same bass you just bought, although I got mine more for reading Bach (love having a low C!). I'm very impressed with the quality - compared to some MIM Standard JB's I've pulled off the wall at GC lately, I think some of the Indonesian Squiers are consistently of higher quality. Enjoy your new bass! :)

The main reason I sold the Schecter was just personal preference. I never really felt at home with the wider spacing, and the bass didn't fit well with the style of music I am currently playing in my band. I really liked the bass, and the sound just didn't work for me. It was a solid player, but I have become accustomed to my SR5's 17.5 spacing. Plus the DP5 didn't play well with the flats that I usually play.

For someone who desires the wider string spacing Schecter DP5 is a home run. I also think that deep down I really wanted a Fender VINTAGE LOOK, and the VMV fills that for me as well.

Well I'm back from my first gig, and it passed with flying colors. So much so I played it for 2 of the 3 sets! It was very clear, and extremely comfortable to my hands. The spacing was a little more than my SR5, but very similar. The satin neck was extremely familiar, as my SR5 is also unfinished. I only added straplocks so far, and have new black knobs on order. The next thing will be some EBMM Cobalts.

Were you playing at Pennings? I know they have live music on occassion.

I have the same on my VM J, and I have them oriented so that when I have the bass strapped on. and the volumes and tone are all the way up, when I look down at them the lines are pointing right at me. In this pic the controls are all turned all the way down:

Ok so it's pretty much whatever way I like then

Pretty much, yeah. Whatever way seems right to you, is indeed the right way.
All I can tell you is that's the way the knobs on my brand new MIA Jazz were oriented, it seemed to work for me, so that's the way I set them when I changed out the knobs on my VM J. I could have done them entirely some other way, and it probably wouldn't have made any difference.
