I'm at it again...NBD tomorrow (SQUIER?)

I got mine in the other day. I think something was wrong with the last VMJ5 that I had. It was pretty lackluster tone wise. The bass that I just got in has a much better tone. Really dig it as is pickup wise. Will probably upgrade the pots and jack to better stuff but not bad overall.

Hey,

In one of your pics I saw that you were using a Genz Benz Streamliner and since I have the same amp I wondered how the bass sounds through the amp.

Also, your post really gave me serious GAS.. So I got to ask, how is the low B?
And if the low B feels floppy, will it help to use thicker or stiffer strings?

The bass looks really nice and I am truly amazed that you think it comes close to your SR5. It reassured my opinion about "cheap" basses :). Thanks.

I like the tone this bass gives with the STM-900. I have only been able to gig with it once so far, but I have a huge outdoor festival gig this evening. I will post my findings sometime tomorrow.

The low B was pretty good out of the box, but I needed to tighten the truss a little. When I did that I had to raise the saddle on the B a little to compensate for a little fret buzz. Now I just changed the stock strings for EBMM Cobalts. This will be the first gig with the new strings. I will be using both my cabs for this one as well.

I promise this is really me playing the new Squier VMJ 5. Sorry for the lousy audio, but I can say that the new bass with the Cobalts were outstanding. Very smooth across the entire span, with no weak spots at all. I had a friend who's a very good bassist say that the notes sounded smooth and round.

Nuff said.
