I'm buying a banjo

I don't worry in the least about such things. I supply my own legit.I'll be one of them to say it.
6 string banjos tuned like a guitar are "banjitars", not banjos.
Enjoy the Banjitar. Plays like a guitar, sounds like a banjo, and is an effective hybrid instrument.
6 string banjos have been around for a century so perhaps they are legit. LOL
I love everything about this clip: the musical performance, the sound balance purely by acoustic means (no PA), the street "stage", and the dancing.

My SO got me one for a Christmas present a few years back. She knows I'm a longtime Bela Fleck fan and a CBG buff. So she figured it was time i had one.
I fell in love with the thing almost immediately. They're easy to learn and fun to play. Made me a better bass player in the process. And my songwriting got a major boost of inspiration by the banjo taking me well outside my usual box.
My next planned acquisition is a mandocello. Probably this one:
My songwriting has taken a moodier slightly dark cabaret turn of late. And I think a mandocello (with effects!) may be just the thing it needs.

i think it's great! i'm not sure i've ever seen a six-string banjo, but i'm sure you'll have a blast! good luck with your banjo!

Years ago, while we where setting up to premier "Chicago" on a cruise ship, the producers ordered some instruments that the musos might not bring to the ship. Of these, a banjo was one that was ordered.
Bring that the guitarist was to play the thing, they ordered a 6-string banjo.
When we all arrived to the ship in Finland, we where surprised to see that multiple boxes of banjos had been shipped.
Looking at the purchase order, someone had made a typo: instead of ordering a 6-string banjo they ordered 6, stringed banjos.
I'm told that the next several guitarists went home with a free banjo.
