Another Belmont Alum here. Great school and I don't think I would have done anything different with that experience now. Definitely take a long look at it. I served as a staff engineer/technician from 2002 until late 2005. Check out the SSL 4048 E/G+ in the B room of the Mulloy Studios. That old girl was my best friend for 6 months while I was refurbing and upgrading it.
The other thing you could do is ship your bass down there before you leave, then ship it back...if you can't find a flight case.
Once you go to Nashville you're not gonna want to go back home.
The people and places there are amazing and the music scene isn't as 1-dimensional (country) as it may seem.
