I'm Freaking Out Here!

After taking some time to think things out, I believe I have my mind around the situation now. I don't have to like it, but I do have to do everything I can for my wife. I couldn't live with myself, if I didn't. As long as I give her my all, things will workout. She called me @ work, in the middle of a meeting, crying her eyes out. That sent me into orbit, before I even had a chance to think. My original post was just after she hung up. I was already @ full throttle after that. I've seen my mom & my stepdad(2x) through nearly fatal illness within the last 3-4 years. So I've already passed family crisis "boot camp".

I know I can be there for her & my kids if things get bad. I have a nice hot rod project that I can get lost in, if I need an escape. That'll help me keep sane, if things get bad. But what I think I'm going to do right now is plan a little celebration dinner, for when these tests all come back "no problem found". I'm praying and keeping my fingers crossed. I thank you all, you truely are good friends. This place really is a brother/sister-hood.

Buzzbass, try being told you have testicular cancer AND seven tumors in your lungs.... at age 27.

Cancer is unbiased. Cancer is unconcerned. Cancer is not racist. Cancer is not sexist. Cancer does not care about social class. Cancer does not care about income.

Cancer sucks.

But my brother fought his off, successfully, and your wife can too. It's not about health, it's not about luck, it's not about trying. It's about BEATING IT.

If the news comes back bad, remember that cancer treatment is FAR FAR BETTER THAN YOU THINK IT IS! These days, it's getting very possible to beat all forms of cancer. Some much more than others. Breast cancer is one of the easy ones. Surgery, a little chemo, and she's gonna have great odds to beat it.

But she must WANT to beat it. Mental strength and emotional stability is absolutely necessary.

If you're really just flipping your mind tomorrow, remember that we went through the same thing. Crying in church to a priest, wandering the city aimlessly, drinking heavily, denial, depression, confusion, tons and tons of research online to understand the dozens of drugs, medical terminology and diagrams and explanations.

Cancer sucks. But cancer can be beat.

Bryan, thanks for that. That post was very inspirational.

any updates yet?

buzz, it's absolutely natural to think the worst. a lot of people do that when they're served with news like this. i call it "first day freak-out," even tho' it may last longer than that.

it's great that your wife is finding out this info. so many people do not. testing and early detection of ANYTHING can give her the headstart on recovery.

at the end of the day, dude, you won't know until you know. so take care of yourself and your posse. and it's ok to freak out....we all freak out when the ones we love are in pain.

keep us posted, man. good vibes to y'all.
