I'm getting a Bee Stinger!

Decisions decisions... I got the question what scale length I'm after...having a hard time deciding between 34" or 35".
The reason I'd go for 35" is I've heard so much good about the B string on 35" basses. However I've also heard that 35" scale doesnt really affect the B strings sound as much as people says...

Altough I guess Bee basses are solid builds perhaps it'll sound good anyhow!

Fred is making alot of BASSES in this model....When you consider how many hours he puts into these phenominal instruments/ along with how modest his prices are/ you can clearly see that it is a labor of love for him. You want to talk about people making alot of money on their basses; let's talk about Alembic, Ritter, Rosco, Warrior, Fodera......Now: Alembic & Fodera......I can see why they might venture as high as they do in their prices.... Rosco & Warrior? Those two, I don't get. I can't see why anyone would pay close to $6000 for an ash body with a quilted maple top & a bolt on (4 bolt only) 3 piece neck. Maybe, in Warrior's case, they use the most expensive "hand-anointing" oil on the market. That's it! You're paying for the oil! That's a $3000 upgrade.....on a bass that's "worth" about $1000....throw in some "custom" electronics & pickups (Bartolini......yeah..."custom"...)....you've got yourself a $6000 bass! Fred's basses are under priced if you ask me.

Ahh.... That's what I meant ffs. And if it only would have been some ash body on a Rosco with a 3 piece bolt on (4 bolts only) neck with barts on, why not play an Ibanez. Some one pulled this argument on me when I was talking about sadowsky basses, I was pissed, I didn't understand, now I do.

I dont know if I should start taking this personal :(
I always have to wait atleast one month to get a reply from Fred.
I know being a bass luthier is a busy occupation, but answering mails from customers shouldnt really be that time consuming to do atleast one day each week?
I have friends asking me in regular interval how it goes with my bass and I feel embarrased to say "I have no idea.", they think I'm a fool to have paid in advance for a bass without being able to get in contact with the builder. Perhaps I am?

Fred if you're reading this, please make this poor swede happy, send me any kind of reply.

After reading my above post again I feel that perhaps Im being a bit unfair.
Fred builds amazing basses at amazing prices (can not emphasize enough on that point, most other luthiers prices are way over the top IMHO) and is always incredibly polite and friendly when he replies. He does what he can to keep his customers happy I suppose!

well, he's got 2K + of your ends...i wouldn't care :D besides, i wonder how much spam email fred gets...i wouldn't pummel him with emails, but i did wait a few days...left messages from time to time, too...and, to his credit, anytime something came up or he hit a milestone in the build, he contacted me first...he may also have something personal going on, too...

It's the same with me (sometimes). I got quoted my build finished in December, it's now April and it's not here (but will be sooooon!!!!). So in some respects I'm dissapointed, the face the Australian Dollar went from 96 cents to about 60 against the USD hasn't helped me much, I'm lucky I paid it off before the dollar died.

However, I'm sure my worries will vanish as soon as it's in my hands.

I'm with neptoon, it seems Fred either doesn't get emails, or goes by the 'squeaky wheel gets the grease' (sometimes0. However, I sent an email to him a few days ago he responded to in minutes.

I tried your approach neptoon and sent another "identical" email to Fred, and to my surprise I got a reply already the next day :D

However in the reply he stated that he was just on his way out and that he'd get back to me sometime during the weekend...I've checked my inbox 10 times per day during the weekend, being very excited about getting a reply...but none came :(

I'll wait a week or so, then I'll send another friendly reminder ;)

Whats up fellas.

Its been a while since ive heard from Fred as far as any further progress on my 9 string stinger. However, i did send a condolence message to him regarding the passing of his dog the other day, and he replied right away on that. But yeah, its about time i bug him a lil about my bass. Last i heard about it, he said he routed all three pickup cavities, and was working on the neck. He said he was going to send me pictures of the body routs and the booked acrylicised ebony fretboard, about 3 months ago.......... but Fred still hasnt sent me any of those pics, even after the reminder e-mails about them. I understand he's busy so theres not much more for me to do besides pestering Fred with e-mails, (which i'm against) or just trying to forget about the whole thing till he decides to contact me....... ive tried both options....... (gotta do what ya gotta do sometimes)

Ive actually been waiting for over three years all together........ :eyebrow:
Its a llllllllllllong story about how the whole 3+ year long wait thing happened, better i'll spare you all on that mess..... :hmm: The most of it was my changing things up on Fred all the time because i was too impatient and wanted something different every couple months or so, haha :hiding:

So yeah, its been about three months since ive bugged Fred about my bass. I'm gonna shoot him an e-mail now and see whats crackin besides some butt cheeks. Hopefully he'll have some good news, maybe even send me those picks he was telling me about. :smug:

Yep, im waiting to hear from Fred as well. He's doing some really cool flame maple neck binding for me to go with an acrylicised ebony fret board. I might be getting pics in the next few days :p can hardly wait!!! :hyper:
