Asked my girlfriend of about three years if she'd marry me today when I came home from work for lunch.

She said yes.

I cried. Then I called her dad. He cried.

It was beautiful.

Aw comon Maki! Be happy for him!

I can't wait to get married haha.

Maki, wanna get married? :D haha

No :spit:

Seriously though... I'm just looking out for him. Twenty four is awfully young IMO. It's really easy to get all giddy and wrapped up in the moment and then 6 years later he's posting in the I just got divorced thread. Odds are against the success of this marriage.

But if there's not stopping the fool... The congrats dude. Just read and know the man laws. They'll help you. ;)

You mad impetuous fool!!!!

Just kidding! Go for it, and I hope you live happily ever after. Here's to your 51st anniversary (my dad says the first 50 years are the hardest, after that it's smooth sailing. My folks have been married 54 years and counting. It can be done!).

Age doesn't matter as long as the maturity is there. I was 20 when I married and 17 years later, it's still going strong.

It's rare that I turn out to be the Brucey of the thread, but you're an anomoly my friend.

I'm just saying it's a big step... Marriage is hard. I personally beleive that a person needs to live that point in their life when their out of school, making good money, and living as an adult for a few years before jumping in. Not saying break up with your chick, just wait a few years. Live together when you're making good money etc. This is an important part of a person's development... as important as adolescence IMO. Whatever, just be careful...

I'm happy for you don't get me wrong, this part of your life is fun... Planning for your wedding having stupid arguments over decorations and meals and crap... It's exciting.

Ah whatever, a fool is love cannot be told. Go nuts dude. Have fun. I wish you both the best. Congrats. :bawl:

You make a very valid point. If I had the chance to do it all over again, it would be with the same woman but I would do it a few years down the road. My advice would be to get yourself financially established if you haven't already. Then make all of your dreams come true. It's a rough road but if you two are really in love, it makes handling that road a bit easier. Never stop working at your marriage and never go to bed angry.
Good luck!
