The two cities are effectively only about 35-40 miles apart so its mostly towns in between.
Stirling which is sort of off to the left is a lovely wee town, very historic, lovely castle, monument, great views of lovely countryside and so is Linlithgow -Linlithgow Palace (mostly ruined castle) is a nice place to visit very historic!- or at least it used to be - mohawk may be more up to date on the current situation than I am!
Close by Stirling between Falkirk and Grangemouth which is an area being redeveloped is the magnificent structure below, which was just finished yesterday I think - The Kelpies - mythical horse/Sea creatures, largest equine statues in the world (!) - 30metres high -but according to my family well worth a look!
Second mohawk on getting out to Aviemore and if you can manage it further out to Glencoe - a couple of days up in Inverness would be on my list -lovely little place and of course right beside Loch Ness so you never know
Have a ball!
