I'm heading to Europe!

I like the Benelux cities. A dam, Antwerp, Brussels, Rotterdam. There's a frites stand about two minutes for Rotterdam Central station that worth checking out.

VVV, Fay Fay Fay , is the travel aid in the Netherlands and can land you cheap rooms.

They are BB sites that might be of help. Don't let the hotel wash your clothes. Find a coin operated washer and do it yourself.

Belgium tends to have great food and great beer. It might not Fosters but check it out.

The cities are less than 50 miles apart, so, not a huge amount. The in-between tend to be lower income satellites town. Though I dare say you could check out Stirling (Stirling Castle, Wallace Monument) and Falkirk (see the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies).

I dare say, I'm probably being a bit unfair, there is certainly a lot of history and stuff about, even in smaller places.

The two cities are effectively only about 35-40 miles apart so its mostly towns in between.

Stirling which is sort of off to the left is a lovely wee town, very historic, lovely castle, monument, great views of lovely countryside and so is Linlithgow -Linlithgow Palace (mostly ruined castle) is a nice place to visit very historic!- or at least it used to be - mohawk may be more up to date on the current situation than I am!

Close by Stirling between Falkirk and Grangemouth which is an area being redeveloped is the magnificent structure below, which was just finished yesterday I think - The Kelpies - mythical horse/Sea creatures, largest equine statues in the world (!) - 30metres high -but according to my family well worth a look!

Second mohawk on getting out to Aviemore and if you can manage it further out to Glencoe - a couple of days up in Inverness would be on my list -lovely little place and of course right beside Loch Ness so you never know :)

Have a ball!

I really want to see the Kelpies!

Must admit that I've never really been in Linlithgow, only passed though on the train.

Yeah me too!
Heading over for Christmas in a few weeks so looking forward to getting a visit -hopefully nicely lit and with some nice fresh snow around them :)

Linlithgow is a pleasant little town for a visit -wouldn't stay over or anything but if the palace is open (they always seem to be doing renovations or work to stop it falling down -so check before you go!) and they have the tours up and running then its steeped in history and more than a little blood :)

I'm loving the fact that every building in the city is just and old one renovated, I've seen just a few new buildings

In Perth, Australia all they have kept really is the top half of the buildings with the bottom half completely renovated, really noticeable on hay street mall
