I'm outta GAS!

I know, I know, I can hear you!
Blasphemy! Sacrilège! He's gone off the deep end! Is he possessed?

No, I'm actually just fine and grinnin' like a villin'.
I bought a new bass this past October. Black Fender Player p-bass with Ebony fingerboard and matching headstock. Before I bought it, I knew I wanted it blacked out. I bought a Badass II Bridge (in black), Badass OGT tuning pegs ( in black), Schaller strap locks (in black), and a replacement pick guard (in black but it doesn't matter because...) I wrapped it in black vinyl carbon fiber. I like to keep the original pick guards original, maybe it's my OCD, I don't know! :D
Anyways, honestly, I really only want an ashtray for it. I have one laying around the house but I took it off such a long time ago, I have no earthly idea where I stored it.
My GAS list is down to the ashtray and a new strap. I'll post pics of the finished product, sans the ashtray, in a week or so. I don't get her back until next Saturday.
Do you have any pictures?

I totally get it OP, I've been GAS free for several years now (despite the constant flow of potential GAS attacks here on TB) and I couldn't be happier about it. No Bass GAS, no amp GAS, no pedal GAS ... GAS free!

enjoy! .... and maybe practice more or chase better gigs with all that GAS freedom.

You are not out of GAS. You have a crisis in your creative buying journey. We need an intervention.

It's not really possible. Even when you get to the point where you have all that you need. Its not over. Next I started with strings. Its amazing the difference between string types. Then I started with pedals - I completed the pedal board - there's nothing compact about it. Then you see the exotic bass that you've never seen before. Quickly you run downstairs and pick out something comparable out of your "collection" and play it for hours. Some days that works as your GAS-X - some days you'll hit the BUY button.... If you're lucky, you won't start collecting cabs next.

I have one of those, and it’s great. I’ve kept it stock, except for installing a Fender HiMass bridge.

When it comes to basses and gear I have a full tank and no room for anymore GAS. So for 2024 I'm going to see how far I can run on fumes. If I can't resist the next shiny thing I'll have to sell off some gear to make some room in the tank. Otherwise, I'm going to need a bigger tank.

I was gas-free until I decided to start dreaming again: I just quit smoking, I'm going to save to equivalent of what I used to spend on tabacco, and in one year, if and only if I haven't smoked a single cigarette, I'm going to reward myself with a € 2500 bass :)
I'm looking forward to this time next year and seeing what you get!
