I'm not crazy about the placement of the tuner for the E string. It just looks wrong.
I would've moved it about the width of the peg to 7 oclock of it's current position and made it the B tuner.

That tuning peg placement is a deal breaking FAIL. Functionally and aesthetically irritating. It took 4 pages for someone to catch that? Drop the zealous chivalry and discuss the bass.

I'm a photographer. The lighting is not super flattering in many of the pictures. Also you need to keep in mind that pretty much 100% of similar commercial pictures you would see have had heavy photoshopping done to remove any slight imperfection in the model, even sometimes changing the shape of her body. The camera often shows more than you would see by eye, it's hyper real, or less real, depending on how you look at it. These photos are clearly not retouched, there is even visible dirt/scuff marks on the floor/background. This is what a real woman looks like, before photoshop ;). I think she's very attractive. Like others have said, it's easy to criticize on the internet. Somehow i doubt that all of you who are putting down the girl are professional models who are perfect. Basic human decency doesn't have to stop just because it's the internet.

I fully expect a pic parade of Brad Pitt-like Adonis's (or whoever the latest male heartrobs are). Or at least 12 months from now, after you guys lose your beer bellies and Donut Jowls:D

Yup, pretty much. :cool: Or don't much care for what they usually get...

I thought that it didn't work in an advertising sense at all. something uniquely beautiful like that shouldn't have competition in its ad. You use sex to differentiate and sell the common everyday crap like deodorant and cheap beer.

But aside from the bass, if I saw her at the supermarket I'd be taking a second and probably third look, and I'll bet so would many of her detractors. ;)

Context has something to do with it too, if she was in a context where nobody expects a cute girl people would go nuts for her but the classic pose next to a guy-toy is reserved for hte best of the best and anything less than the ultimate lets people down. As though they are owed something... but right or wrong that is what drives it. Expectations.

It doesn't work that way. When you overhear people at work or in bars complaining about the performance of athletes, be they college or pro, do you approach them and tell them they have no right to criticize unless they can do better? Somehow I suspect not.

Joe Sixpack on this site isn't trying to peddle anything with his appearance. The OP is.

I like the girl.

Don't like the basses (even though they look very well made).

To each their own, we don't all have the same "taste" in women of basses.

That said, the "girl modeling basses" seems a bit "1980's cheesy Dean ad" to me... but again, it's all a matter of personal taste.

I dunno, F-Bass change their "standard" 5 string arrangement headstock to 2 over 3 to move the B string tuner back a little more.
I think Elrick does as well.

Dunno if it matters/makes a difference, but a few are doing it/have been doing it.

That decision really isn't up to you, is it? Personally, I the only thing in this thread that I find even mildly offputting is the occasional sanctimonious post.
