The decision to play a bass VI is yours, I'll stay out of it, but I suggest you invest in a 4 stringer also. A nice Squier VM or CV would be nice and reasonably priced. I had a Squier Bass VI for a month or so. Had to try it but it wasn't for me. I also had to turn the bridge around to intonate properly, and shim the neck to get a good setup. Added some heavier gauge Kalium roundwound strings and that added a bit of tension, but it's still going to be a bit floppy. Wasn't getting the deep bass sound out of it that I wanted, but if you like bands like the Cure or Surf music it will fit in nicely there. As far as playing regular old blues or classic rock I personally don't feel like it quite gets you there, but others will disagree.
