Impressing the ladies.

Drink lots of water and watch what you eat, try to eat right..

But not just before bed, right?

The only other thing you need there is the willpower to stick with the plan.

Yeh... Part 2).

That's the real hard bit.

I'm guessing that the new and improved me is going to last for about 2 weeks, max.

I've heard that it takes 6 weeks to make any visible difference in muscle mass from when you start. So I won't see any difference for 6 weeks. That will deffinitely be discouraging.

Yep, don´t eat much before bedtime.. that will just turn into fat.

And yes, it takes time to see a visible difference....

I took a pic of myself in shorts so I can compare how I have changed. That´s a good motivation tool.

Damn. I just wanted to impress girls. I didn't want any hard work.

Here's my plan, and anyone can make suggestions if they like:

Everyday: Progressive push-ups. I'm going to do push-ups the Dream Theater way and just go 'till I drop.

Once a week: A bench pressing. I'll make it to the gym and do chest, shoulders and arms.

Hot days (most days of summer): I'll do some laps of the local pool.

Sound good for a lazy slob?

No, not really. ;)

Much more goes into a good looking body than chest and arms. A well-rounded weight training routing will give better results than a just-do-what-the-ladies-can-see routine.

It's called "working out" for a reason. It's work. :bassist:

Well, you CAN eat before bed for two reasons. If he wants to gain muscle, he will gain fat. It's almost certain. So eatting before bed would be a good idea. Also when you sleep your metabolism slows almost to a dead halt. So eatting slow metabolizing foods such as cottage cheese or yogurt (small amounts) will keep you going at night, burning mroe fat or making some repairing some muscle.

Recently I have been on a cut and have a large scoop of peanut butter as my last "snack" and ahve lost 2 pounds in the last ... 6 days. 4-5 small portion meals, salads... meat veggies etc and mostly water (a gallon a day or more).

"Damn. I just wanted to impress girls. I didn't want any hard work."

By the way, if this is going to be your attitude, give up now. Myself and so many other people have busted our asses to be what we are today. Revamp your attitude or dont even try. Also.. work everything. Don't neglet you back, abdominals and legs. We don't need another big upper body chicken leg jerk waking around :).

I only plan to do shoulders and chest.

You should work out your whole body if you really want to impress people.

Ya know what though? Go ahead and start off doing chest and arms. Go with your plan, twice a week. I'm willing to bet that if you are truly serious, you may end up liking your workouts enough to give attention to the rest of your body. Then, when you go to the beach this summer, you will have a truly chiseled body that will not only look good, but will show people that you care about your body enough to take care of it.

Ok, if everyone thinks so I'll do some squats in the morning, too. I'm also going to do laps, and maybe jog.

Thanks, that was a positive response.

I just thought of something this morning that worked wonders for me. Take photos of yourself before you start, and hang them on your bathroom mirror or on the bathroom door. Take a new photo every month and put it up. You can track your progress, and it will help you to stay motivated to keep going.

My motivation is that I hate having a ****in gut and I want to be able to see ab at some point. Therefore, I work out and lose as much weight as possible. In addition, I hate my tiny biceps, so that's my motivation to do weight training. I know that just doing my biceps would make me look weird, so I do everything else because of it.

Find a part of yourself that you hate, absolutely despise (in your case your chest and shoulders) and tell that part that they're gonna have to **** off soon because a knew chest is on its way. Bassically just get mad as hell and not willing to take it anymore.

Working wonders for me. :bassist:

Edit: And PM Peter Squire. His mysterious absence from this thread is odd, but he's given me a ton of help so far and I'm sure he'd be willing to do the same for you. (just be nice).

Hi, mysterious absence fixed!

Firstly, Jack, I think you may have to take a look at your motivation here. What happens when you get fully ripped and still can't get a lady? I believe being a nice guy would get you further with the girls.

But tidying up your physique won't hurt. Just make sure you're doing it because you want to feel good about yourself and care about your long-term health. These qualities radiate out of fit people and make them instantly more attractive to anyone.

Your ideas for a routine seem a bit haphazard, like you've picked up one copy of Mens Health and taken it as gospel. What you need to do is fix yourself a starting point. As Grug will tell you, I usually start with your BMI and kilojoule count. This gives you a clear idea of where you are now, and what you need to get you to your goal.

As for motivation, a training partner is a very good idea. But more importantly, having a fixed routine with goalposts along the way is essential. It's like when you learn a new song on your bass - you don't just learn the first four bars and wait for the rest to magically come to you.

You need to have a clear plan to get from A to B, with assessments along the way and adjustments as you may need them. You need to figure in diet, lifestyle, training, weaknesses or previous injuries and maintanence.

My overall suggestion would be to contact your local gym and book three sessions with a personal trainer. Ask this person to give you a full body physical assessment, and then work out a routine for you that will involve free weights and cardio and won't necessarily require you to go to a gym to do it.

Of course, this advice is for you if you're serious. If you're not, then none of this will mean diddly squat.

Seems pretty obvious that the same thing that attracts straight women would attract gay men, no?

I would say no and tend to agree more with Peter Squire
...

So, to impress "Ladies" :

Talk to them, listen, be sensitive to their needs..etc. etc.

To impress Gay Men :

Get a good "physique"; in all senses of the word!!

:D
