In progress De Gier Bebop 4 string Jazz Bass

My teacher brought his brand new BeBop 5-string to my lesson today. Man, what an amazing bass!!! I played the first prototype of the BeBop and that already startled me. Sander builds amazing basses, fast and for a good price.

Aside from having a rustic handmade look like Bee or Skjold basses, what sets Bebop basses apart from the rest of the boutique Fender-style builders?

From their website:

"We have spent years to develop this bass. It is our interpretation of a classic. This bass is not a look-alike, it is a
total redesign of the original concept. This is truly a De Gier. We tried to keep the feel and looks of the original
as our reference. But for instance the neck is built like other De Gier basses. You will find this bass very easy to
play, thick tone with low setup. There are many small details that we changed to our style. The result is the De
Gier BeBop, that is not the next copy, but an original in itself. Perhaps that is why Marcus Miller took our first
and Richard Bona our second."

Yes indeed flawless craftmanship, great setup, very easy going an stable neck. Much more easy, no strain, to play then my F-bass. Silent electronics, this seems to be a problem with the new deluxe fenders 2010, whose price is not much less then the bebop.

Oh and I was about to purchase a Fender, I read on a forum that replacing the pickups with Nordstrands made it into a 'pro' instrument.
Luckely Fender can't deliver to Europe.

The quality of this instrument outruns Fender, even Sadowsky, by far and ressambles that of a Celinder.

Wednesday did some practising with soul and funk band. It was opening the sound and dynamics of the band due to the more passive sound of the Bass in contrary to my usely in activ mode used F-Bass which sounds big and loud.
