I think I read on the FB page that it would be "affordable to most or all Brubaker players" . . . something like that . . . whatever that means.

. . . Sports the new Aguilar humcancelling single coil J pickups. David DeMarco wired the four controls: neck volume, bridge volume, master volume with push/pull and passive tone control. With the master volume in the lower position it has a great full range old school passive sound. Pull it up and this sums it up nicely...


It's hard to describe how big, full and aggressive it gets.
Moments like that don't happen often enough for me so this was especially fun. So far everyone who's heard it agrees... it's almost unbelievable. Including the folks at WMC who ordered some on the spot.

These are all of the details I have on it. I don't think this is series/parallel switching, more about attenuation. I've never heard a passive bass sound like this.

Here's Mr. Rodney "Skeet" Curtis with his new JXB-5 Custom. The entire front is Buckeye Burl incl. fingerboard.
Another one of those basses you have to see in real life. Bartolini single coils, Bartolini NTMB preamp.

Literally the ONLY thing wrong with that bass is the two round string tees.
Pleeeeease, just use one of those long bar ones, it'd look so much cleaner.

Those string hold downs were only on the prototype back in 2008.

As far as 24 frets, while that might happen down the road, this is an update on a classic J bass.

Wow!! I'm thoroughly convinced Kevin doesn't paint his basses. It looks as if he dips 'em in liquefied, Jolly Rancher Candy. Nobody else gives their basses that "candy-like" quality to their finishes. Now, those are what I call true, candy finishes.

On a side note, personally, I'm really feeling more partial to electric bass these days, as a fantastic instrument to convey musical ideas, rather than upright. May be because I played more electric, than upright in college (for music).
