Injuries suck...

Three summers ago I was working on my car. Trying to get the lower control arm off, my breaker bar slipped and a crushed my left hand down onto the garage floor with just about all my strength. Chipped the bone in my fingertip of my left ring finger, broke the nail about a half inch ABOVE the cuticle. Luckily I was not in a band at the time, because that took several months to heal to the point I could play again.
I feel for your drummer. Sucks indeed.

I cringed so hard when I read that. About 10 years ago, I was using a bolt cutter in a fabrication shop and put all my weight into it, only to discover that my idiot boss had removed the safety stop on the tool. So when the bar sheared, my knuckles came punching full force into the opposite handle of the cutter. It took months for that hand to finally return to normal.

Reactions: Bass Man Dan
Ha, yeah no dice on a sub. It would likely cause more trouble than it's worth. We don't have any shows booked now so we'll just lay low for a bit. Just a bummer is all. The guitar player and I are going to do some writing without the drummer and see how that goes. Maybe not so pretty with me switching between bass and drums!

Come together as a band.
Take time off together and work On some things that have been neglected due to the the band or shows.

Have a cook out or two
Get the fams together
bands got a lot going on

Tell your drummer NOT to rush his recovery, but DO exercises and stretches that will improve his flexibility and range of movement, THEN rebuild his strength. It may seem like a tiny thing, but getting your arm to fully extend or reach for the sky overhead can be a big deal.

Also, having a gig a ways out as a goal can be a big motivator. It was for me. At the end of April I fell at work (hit like a sackful of :poop:, in fact). I sprained both wrists, both elbows and tweaked one bicep. I was purple everywhere. But having two gigs in 5 weeks made me stretch and rebuild carefully. Both gigs turned out fine. Exhausting, but fine.
