My input is broken, and I'm not exactly a wizard on repairing basses. How much would it cost to repair one and how long would it take? Or is there a home remedy that I'm blind to?

Why do you say it's broken. Is the plug loose, is it making a lot of static noise, is it completely dead. If it is dead, it is probably a broken wire. If it is loose and causing noise, open the cavity and bend the tension tang to increase the pressure on the plug. Most of the time it is a very simple repair, maybe a little as 5 minutes.
The part is probably less than $10 and takes to solder joints. Simple repair if you can solder. But a shop is going to charge you for the part plus a labor charge with a minimum of most likely an hour at upwards of $35. No matter if it takes them 5 minutes or the full hour. Find a buddy who can solder or learn yourself.
