Instrument cable preference

Judt curious, which style instrument cable to you all prefer out there in regards to straight end vs right angle ends?
If you like the style with both ends, which end do you plug into your bass?
Also, where is the input in your bass and how does that impact your preference?

Well, none of my bass have inputs. But I plug the cords into the output jack because the signal flows out of the bass into the next step of the signal chain...

I use all variations, two straight, straight/right angle, and dual right angle. Basses have top mounted, rim mounted, and one with a Strat-style angled jack plate. Except for the Strat-style I've used either style plug o the bass. Generally use RA on stage because when I loop the cable between the strap and body at the tail strap button, it requires less cable.

I like the D'Addario American Stage cables. They aren't the cheapest ones to be had, but they are quality and an overall good value. If I'm feeling spendy, if I have a gift certificate, or if they are on sale then I like the Mogami Gold cables. That being said, I buy cables so infrequently as they've almost never failed on me. The one time one of my D'Addario cables failed they sent me a brand new replacement, though.

Right angle is usually what I get for the end that plugs into the bass and for pedal patch cables, but straight for everything else.

After decades of thinking I didn't really have a preference, some time in the past ~18 months I finally conceded that I prefer a right-angle plug coming out of my bass, so I went on a chopping-and-soldering spree and rebuilt all my cables to accommodate that preference. Biggest reason I think was because straight plugs coming out of basses with side-mount jacks tend to bang into stuff: my leg, my chair, the floor if it's on a hanging stand, etc. Also the right-angle plugs keep everything a bit tidier aesthetically with the cable running closer to the edge of the instrument.

Straight on one end, 90 degree on the other end.

If playing a bass with the jack on top, right angle and straight in the amp. If playing a bass with a bottom jack, I turn the cable around, straight in the bass, right angle in the amp.

Thus the cable works for any kind of bass.

George Ls cables! Lowest capacitance. Best sound.

I find it can be the input on the amp that dictates. Some amps won’t take an angled plug well, and I have an Aerodyne Jazz with a Strat Jack that needs a straight plug. So double straight plugs for me.

One end straight, the other L and usually a VOX curly

I would ideally like both ends to be right angles, but I really like these Fender cables as they have a lifetime warranty. They seem to come in both ends straight, or one end straight and one end right angled, so I go for the latter. I figure that if these ever break, they'll just be replaced by Fender (and have been), so worth spending a tiny bit extra to ensure I never have to replace cables from my pocket.

That said, I have about 5 of them for my effects loop etc.

I'd like to have both ends right angle on some of my cables. I wish I could find some quality ones with right angles on both ends for a reasonable price.

Mogami with right angle Neutrik silent connector. Been using them for years both studio and live. Never any issues. Cost a bit more and can’t say whether they sound better but I love them and the silent plug and unplug. I get them from Amazon.
