Interesting Ebay Posting ... What's Right/Wrong ??

.. sometimes when things wind down and out of boredom I will peruse Ebay just to try and spot things that 'just don't look right' … suffice it to say, there is plenty there to keep a guy busy usually, but this one had me testing my knowledge of modern era Fender basses a bit .. I just thought I would toss it up here and see who can spot what is right and wrong, and come to the same conclusion that I did … be nice to each other, this is supposed to be fun, while a learning experience for others … ;)

Yup .. its a boner (longhorn), which were not STB, so that is correct, and it does have a couple mods, but what else about the bass/the ad is peculiar? ;)

Ad states "These are very rare basses made in the early to mid 90's"..... just remove "very rare" and it's accurate :woot:

I'd bet it's got a pretty big shim in the neck pocket. Those original style Badass bridges are a lot taller than a stock Fender bent plate. When you see them on Fenders, they're usually sunk in to the body to compensate, but I don't see that here, and it doesn't look like it's got sky-high action so I'd assume the neck is layed back a couple degrees. Kinda why the BAII was born, it's a lot lower profile to work on Fenders without any drama.

… you are kind of on the right track with your quoted comment … what else do you see here not right? … ;)

… and you are right, there are quite a few floating around out there still, just not something as common to see as current sized bodies/necks nowadays … a lot of folks were looking for options for the extra wide bridge spacing on these, getting tired of pulling the E and G off the fretboard ...thanks for playing!

Thanks for the response … probably just a convenience thing, maybe easiest to tuck in there... remember, the Longhorn's were passive beasts, so adding the active pups to this one would have been one of the 'modifications' … notice anything else in the ad or about the bass that just doesn't seem 'right'? ;)

Well, they made it … just looked and they are at 2112 … and yes, they definitely seem like a reputable seller, so this is not a 'bash' the seller, or inferring anything fraudulent on their part … I am sure they have no idea what they have as it looks perfectly fine … if you don't know what to look for ;) …

Thanks for the comment, Charles … see anything not 'right' in the ad or about the bass?

… BINGO!! … Cutter has an eye ;) … that is a couple of things that jumped right out to me and made me look twice at it, then I noticed the lack of anniversary sticker too … good job! … there is still more though ;)

… you guys are good !! … the Longhorns were only made 89 1/2-94 … and I thought neck swap too … BUT, everything is perfectly correct on this neck … so... somebody else fill in the blank here ;)

That's awesome! I'm not fluent enough in Fender to catch the "not rights". Off topic; when we were moving my mother in law out of her nursing home, I got a screwdriver and "borrowed" the number from room 2112's door.:thumbsup: It's mounted on my shop door now.....
