I almost never listen to the radio, honestly, I think most of it is just top 40 garbage just made to make a cheap buck. I couldn't really care less about most of it.

No. I live in an area where there is only one radio station because it's a small town. So I plug my iPod into my auxiliary port and jam on my music.

I've met a few. Some are kinda cheating in a way because I met them before they "made it". The one that stands out though is Rod Stewart. When I was in High School, the singer of the band I was in at the time was lucky enough to have a father who was the chief of police in Sac. He would get detail requests for extra security for the shows that happened in Sacramento at the then Sleep Train amphitheater. The side benefit was the ability to be back stage for the shows. We ( the band ) were hanging out near the back line talking to a guy who was lucky enough to be playing with Rod that night (He was a harmonica player from Sac.) As we B.S'd Rod was just sort of "there". We gushed a little but Rod would have none of it. He was super chill and put us at ease instantly. To this day I was so impressed at how completely relaxed the guy was. We had about a 5 minute chat and he said his goodbyes and headed to where ever it was he was originally going. Pretty cool.

Not sure it will pass 1200, but it seems to be on that course.
Yes, I have been on a train, but only have ridden on the Metrolink. However, my father worked for Union Pacific Railroad, and I have been in more than a few (stationary) locomotives.

I came to appreciate Starbucks because they brew (and sell) a coffee called "Komodo Dragon". Good Sumatran coffee and named after a 10 foot long, venemous, carnivorous lizard. How can you beat that?

Our office used to stock Sumatra Mandeeling, which was a decent brew, but it doesn sound like it beats something called "Komodo Dragon". We dont get the Sumatra Mandeeling much anymore, I think it might have been too robust for people, though I quite liked it. It was much better than the Brazilian Bourbon we get now, which is pretty weak. I have to use 2 one pot packages to make it any good.

I've been on a big Grateful Dead kick recently. That seems to work, in terms of spiritual chillout.
What do you think of "Jazz is Dead"?
I think ideas can't be killed, nor can a genre of music. Perhaps no good jazz is being made right now, but dead? Never... someone will always carry the torch.

^^ I'm sorry my friend, I can't go there with you. I'm not a Grateful Dead fan or even admirer. It may well be that I don't "get" them, but I really don't care for anything I heard by them. I'm in the minority I'm certain. Thanks for the suggestion though! I suppose Jazz is Dead are pretty good musicians. It would be unfair for me to judge them by their song choices 
^ Matticus I am a big fan of gut grenades ... and Tina's is at the top of the frozen variety. Bean and Cheese with Tobasco green sauce and sour cream is yummy!

No. But I used to pass the Hotel California on lower State Street in Santa Barbara quite regularly.
