I'd be really surprised if the bass is intonated properly with the saddles in those positions, even with the possible influence of the mutes. It looks like the owner just put them that way for the sake of appearance. Strange!

Intonation

I was never interested in this bass. I already own a 2012 Roadworn Jazz and as far as I know none came with mutes. I did, however, add these same mutes to mine. Lots of different opinions on this but I’ve seen many Fender basses and none looked like that that with correct intonation.
To the OP, I just bought a Sadowsky MV4 that after the intonation was done on it looked like you G and D strings and I'm using a Peterson tuner (which is supposed to be great.)... Maybe the tuner is wrong but to my hears, it is fine. Maybe my hears are wrong, that could be why I hear others out of tunes....
