With the thing closed in there most people won't know what it is. We take thousands of dollars worth of other gear with us anyway but I understand that the bass/amp market is is a bit more narrow than the Ipad market.

Exactly. A rackmount version with a MIDI footswitch would be a more feasable idea (although you'd eat up a lot of rack spaces). Very cool nonetheless....

Good point. A better interface would be a foot-stomp controller that works wirelessly with your iPad. You could put the iPad anywhere you want (like on your rack or a stand) while still having the accessibility of pedal activation. Its a pretty cool idea though.

My thoughts exactly. I think my family loves our iPad more than me. Wouldn't go over well if I took it to a gig and it didn't come home. And it's technically "mine".

OTOH, I wouldn't rule out using an iPad at a low-key acoustic type gig if there were a valid use for it.

Your pedalboard was made to be stomped on. Literally stomped on. Somehow I don't think there's a "stomp test" as part of the iPad QC process.

I like adding cheap software to my iPad / iPhone not expensive hardware because I know that in 3-4 years it will be worthless.

I love using the iPad as a virtual analog modeling synth, but that ain't with it on the floor--the thought of the ipad being on the floor makes me nervous!

I love my iPad and Garageband. I have been really getting into MIDI and playing synths with it.

For recording guitar and bass, it has been really great.

However, using it as an "effects box" for live playing it doesn't really do it for me. It just can't give me the ooomph I want through my amp.

I use Ampkit. It is really a guitar oriented app, but, I have used it for bass. The "Bassman" amp model is OK. I wouldn't play live with it, but it is fun to mess around with.

My favorite app: Moog's Filtatron. Hours and Hours and Hours of fun.
