Whelp. This won't help your willpower.



Also, from the look of things, it's a special order option for all the currently listed production models, so it looks like if you're waiting for something that hasn't hit the shop in a while, you could get the custom build/paintjob in production without whatever the open ended wait was for restock.

I have both the JoshWah and the Xerograph Deluxe on my board. I don't find them terribly similar so I'll enable your XD acquisition thirst.

I use the J/W as much more of a straight ahead funky envelope and I use the Xerograph more for 'stunt filter/envelope'. I do have it hooked up to an expression and drive it with a fuzz and use a few other things in front and behind it. While you can get straight up envelope or filtering out of the Xerograph...those sounds are in there...I found it took a bit of learning and work access them and in the end it was easier to pick a different tool for 'classic envelope' and have them both set up for different jobs.

I have the XD and the Moog MF101, and I had a QTron that I sold. I had pretty high hopes for the Moog but because there is no real bypass I couldn't actually use it on my bass board, its pretty much relegated to synth work now (& its HUGE).. i also liked the XD way better, the Moog sounded a little tame.

I really love the XD, & although I haven't tried them all I think its the best pedal IE makes. It def has a learning curve but makes every synth pedal sound WAY better going thru it. Having an expression pedal hooked into it is key, and if you can have something like a SA reflex (where it can act like a LFO, esp its its in sync with the beat) its even better. rich filter, sounds great mixed with other modulation or distortion pedals.

Less said about the Qtron the better, it never did anything for me.

I actually really like hte filter on the Moog Minitaur, but its a PITA to get working (have to use some secret key sequence to open up the gate), and seems a waste to have a synth on your board and just use the pedal part of it. sounds hella thick tho.

The Chromatron looks cool, and Zach's video review is really good on it.

do you put the Polytope before or after the XD?

I recently got a Divaricator in which I put the QF2 in the effects loop (I have another output of hte reflex going into the QF2), and it really helps preserve the bass low end going thru the QF2. That goes into the XD but then after that I have a Darkglass Alpha Omicron this & a older TC Chorus/PM/Flanger unit, but that might be better before the XD...

After the XD...at least that's where it rides for me. I don't know that the XD will love the signal once chorused.

In my case, the Polytope rides outside and behind the Divaricator's loop (which has a Fuzz->XD-Delay). Since the Polytope has bass/treble controls as well as a 'dry' signal volume you can not need it in your HP Loop either.
