Iron Ether FrantaBit

Big props to "mean" Jean for that awesome soundscape. I agree with the poster who said he could listen to an entire album of that. Do it, Jean, you know you want to!!!

I came up with this interesting sound using the Franta and the Xero with an OC2 in front while working way too late one night. The top part is Franta into the xero in downsweep mode shifted up an octave with an M5.

Can you share your settings for this one? I've been messing around with the Franta and Xero combos and can't get even close to how good this sounds. I don't have the OC2...perhaps this is the problem...at any rate, I'd love to see what your settings are. Or anyone's for that matter.

No problem! One thing to remember is, how the sample rate reacts at any given setting is very much dependent on what key you're playing in. This particular sound requires the OC2, but in general I like this pedal a little better without the octave pedal. So, for this one, I noticed that with the sample rate all the way ccw and the octave on, my d flat on the 11th fret of the A string made this awesome wobbly sound and the f sounded like it was tuned to the sample rate, so I played the riff in f minor and hit the d flat last (min 6 scary note). This works in any key as long as you tune the SR to your root. I then tuned the bit rate to how much distortion I wanted. For the recording I used these settings:

Frantabit:

SR is all the way ccw
Mix: a little less than halfway
BR: a little more than halfway (live I turn it all the way ccw)

Xero:

Res: 11:00
Sens: off
Freq: 11:30
No clean blend

OC2 is just -1 dimed. Hope this helps, this pedal definitely takes some time to find what works for you. I had a little trial by fire with several sessions and two weekends worth of shows as soon as I got it, so I figured out a method that works for me to get useable sounds fast. Still diggin, though...
FrantaBit is DEEP!

There is no GAS, like an Iron Ether GAS.

Agreed! Indeed!

Been waiting on a summer paycheck to place my Nimbus order (debating if I should do a custom color) when something else with my car goes wrong. Hoping I can clear out some pedals pretty quickly and still be in position to grab a Nimbus. (And the Deluxe Xerograph is also calling my name like a siren....to sink my summer savings.)

The FrantaBit looks less useful for me personally, but if it's on par with what I know of Taylor's other stuff, I'll be getting my hands on one eventually.
