Personally I'd rather Taylor spend the time developing and making awesome pedals (which you can always order just by PM'ing him) than spend lots of time updating his website. Give the guy a break he's a one man operation and his services are defintely "in demand". :D

Yeah, we should all count our blessings--we have a pedal maker who A)makes consistently cool pedals, B)designs them with bassists in mind and C) has a direct line to us through TB.

Anyway, like most of his pedals, I don't see myself using this one, but very nifty nonetheless.

I designed the hardware and reverb algorithm from the ground up, so nothing pre-made or off-the-shelf. There are some great modules out there, but nothing that really did what I wanted to do here.

Sound Chaser's comment is completely justified, and I feel the same way sometimes. I'm working on that issue. Should be a thing of the past by later this year.

Taylor you should never apologize - it is anathema to the ethos of the mad scientist. ;)

On a serious note, while I understand the sentiment from Sound Chaser and others that might feel similarly, it isn't as if IE is smoke and mirrors. There are already three certifiably awesome pedals available and more will certainly join them.

If Taylor's biggest sin is that his skills (both with analog circuitry and digital programming) and creativity have generated ideas for effects that people have a hard time waiting to turn into full fledged pedals then I think we can forgive him.

I don't want to speak for Taylor but I believe Iron Ether has gone in a very different direction than what he first envisioned which was much more about custom pedals. And so people brought him all kinds of crazy projects to tackle and I think it stretched him too thin, especially when his first couple pedals - particularly the Oxide - started selling so well.

He's been forced to change his business model due to high demand and that's led to growing pains. I have no doubt he'll get it all sussed out.

For a builder bringing such new and interesting things to the table (he programmed his own algorithms for the reverb for goodness sake) I think it's safe to ease up on the guy.

As a small builder, I can attest that it's not easy to work in this business in regards to supply and demand. It's a blessing that people want what you (the builder/designer/etc) are providing, but when a business is a one or two person operation, speed is something that just can't be done, especially if pedals is not one's main/first job.
We move as fast as we can to give consumers what we can...patience is a virtue.
We and Taylor don't charge an arm and a leg for our product. If we brought on a team, the cost would rise...it's a compromise we make. I'd rather wait and pay less, having something handmade just me...but that's just me! Everyone is entitled to his/her point of view!
TBH, your post teeters on inflammatory in that this thread is about a new product, not the Oxide.

EDIT: Remove "Oxide" from the last line. Quick iPhone typing yeilds crazy thoughts. The whole "is anyone getting tired of" statement lit me up. I respect what TL is doing for effects. On top of that, his communication on here, PM, and email is consistent and concise, so there's no reason (as I see it) to steer the thread in a new direction about pedals that are in production. The small builders that are on here like to share new ideas and pedals w/ the community and the people who are into said pedals also like to share! It's a good thing to show new or upcoming designs...It makes GAS rise up and keeps people excited. With all of the crap going on in our daily lives and the world at large, pedals one of the few things that make a lot of people happy and waiting for the next cool thing is part of the allure!

Nah, nothing inflammatory, it's a perfectly reasonable comment. (Not sure what any of this has to do with the Oxide, which was available just a couple of days after anyone heard about it). I have no issue with folks expressing their honest opinions, in a polite way, which is what Sound Chaser did. That's what's great about TB :)

Another +1. I only have the Oxide from Taylor, but out of about 20 pedals I'm using right now, it might be my fav. I can't recommend that little silver box enough as a jack of all trades (and master of many!) fuzz.

The Xerograph Deluxe may very well be the most incredible pedal I've ever owned. I waited a long time for it, and thought maybe it might not be worth the wait...all I can say is that I AM GLAD I didn't know then what I know now!!!

The Nimbus, as well as the Bubble Chamber both seem like they would also be works of art, as are the Xero and Oxide, which is flat out amazing!

+1... the Zero may be the pedal I like the most... for rolling off the high-end for dub and hip hop to doing all sorts bubbly, burpy, burly balls of envelope filtery fun. Throw a expression pedal into the mix and things get very psychedelic very fast.

I think this pretty much clears up the issue... except, I don't know if it applies only to the cygnet, oxide, and xerograph, or if it applies to the Bubble Chamber and other such seemingly mythical creations... but it's no pressing concern as I'm too broke to buy anything now anyway. That being said, the Nimbus just got added to my list of pedals to check out when I finish college and get a job next month (hopefully...).

This is so true. Among other things, I am a strategy and sustainability consultant by day... and because I spend much of my day paying attention to and thinking about the problems of the world, I spend much of my day feeling angst and sometimes despair.

Playing music... especially trippy strange music, is just the balm my psyche needs to carry on. You crazy pedal builders are important to my sanity.

Nothing in my post refers to currently in production pedals, only announced pedals not in production. I also see a lot of benefits to the user-builder relationship here at talkbass, I was merely wondering what was going on with all these pedals I've heard mentioned (like, for instance, the Bubble Chamber... still have no idea what it is/does, lol) that seemingly never saw the light of day.

Perhaps my wording rubbed you the wrong way, but that's the nature of the modern age... it's hard to convey tone properly through text alone, without inflection and body language, and something that sounds one way to the writer may sound another way to the reader. It didn't sound that inflammatory to me while writing, but looking back at it I can see where you would get that kind of idea, especially seeing as how this is a much more personal issue for you than it is for me, and one you're more aware of/knowledgeable about than I am.

Now that my inadvertently catastrophic derail is over, let's get back to the pedal...
