Iron Ether Subterranea

please please. I want a fat synth setting, and also one of the reason I bought the SubT for: this thread I started and where you helped quite a bit a year ago. Settings for all 3 pedals SubT -> Xero -> Frantabit to get this kind of sound: http://www.talkbass.com/threads/getting-close-to-this-synth-sound-xerograph.958648/page-2 (you can re-reply in that other thread if you prefer :)). I find it very hard to understand how which setting from which pedal will affect the overall sound, so a starting point would be very warmly welcomed!

I put in an order for a subt and a polytope on may 11th, nothing yet, but that's my fault... I added in a few extras on the 25th and asked him to ship'em all together when they were all ready :)

I have a feeling a lot of people were waiting to pull the trigger on those! But also, Hope he's doing well!

Just found out about this pedal after taking a break from the synth pedal game. I've been using my OC2 and EHX microsynth. Tried a few IE pedals in the past but didnt keep any.

I'm intrigued by thise and planing on trying one of these out. I have a 3 leaf proton I could pair with it to get some envelope; im trying to get classic Moog type sounds.

Sounds like they are backordered right now, correct?

From all synth pedals ive heard subterranea and franta bit are the ones which best capture the moog/retro analog synth vibe, and add some unique tone too, really head and shoulders above everythng I listened to on youtube/audio demo, immediatly fell in love and the reason they are currently being build by taylor :)

Cant wait to try em out!

Robin, hopefully some other folks will chime in, but my experience with the filter knob (which only affects the octave voicing, not clean or either of the synths) is thus. At about 1:30, you get the 8-bit NES type sound and as you move counter clockwise it gets "lower fi." Above about 1:30 or 2:00, it gets synthy in a different way than the other two synth voicings. So if I want to solo the "clean" octave voice, I turn to about 1:30 or 2:00, and if I want OC2 type tone, I go with 11:00 to 12:00 plus the clean voice.

I should definitely point out that I'm AT LEAST the THIRD owner of my specific pedal. The previous owner indicated that my pedal was sent back for the upgrade that you'll read about in the early pages of this thread, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility that this is not actually the case. Upgrade or no, I totally dig the pedal as is, but if it doesn't actually have the upgrade, your experience will be different.

As a final thought, a little goes a long way when it comes to the two synth voicings. For me, anything more than about 9:00 is too much. But I have to admit, I haven't run the SubT through my envelope filter (in need of repair) yet.

Man, I really like this pedal. So many crazy sounds. I think the only thing keeping it from being perfect for me is the inherent fuzz on the octave down. So wishing I could get it to stay clean!

I'm thinking I'll be keeping my oc2 for this reason, but I'm looking forward of playing around with the filter knob.

I also have a tune I do where I switch from synth pedal to regular bass tone with the oc2 adding about 3/4 of oct 1 for the coda. I might decide the change isn't worth keeping the oc2 on my pedal board since there's nothing like it in my gig elsewhere.

Is yours an older one? I know the earliest ones had a bleed over issue with the synth voice, but never heard about a fuzz issue with newer ones?

It's one of the new ones. I mean maybe that's what I'm hearing is the synth voice. It's like I can't get the pedal to not sound synthy. It's small and in the background, but I was hoping for clean octave when I just have the octave knob up with some clean signal blended in, and No Uni Synth or Octo Synth Honestly It could totally be user error at this point, but I'm not really sure how to get perfectly clean octave sound . So for those of you who have the SubT it does exist in the pedal?
