97% of scientists studying climate change are convinced. Perhaps you should study the same material they do.

Procession of the equinoxes and the earth's continental drift, (among many other things) controls climate, and warming is what we should be doing in the current post-glacial period. When is starts to cool-off again (and it will, at least until the isthmus of Panama sinks back into the sea, re-opening the cross-flow that preceded the past four-or-five glaciation cycles), then it will be time to worry. Ice a mile thick over Central Park will be very inconvenient.

Hey my friend I see you have been around here since 2011. Think about they way these threads go. If you post in a thread with a contentious attitude you will usually get the same in return. Sometimes you will get contentious responses no matter how you post.
If you want to have an argument or a ahem debate here there are many who will be glad to oblige. This type of thread usually only leads to a lockdown and possibly irritated people.
If you want to have a discussion here there are ways to approach it without drawing so much ire. We have had lengthly discussions with polar opposite opinions and still been able to talk about it.
Sometimes it is not about winning an arguement but more about trying to express how you feel about something and then listening to what others have to say. If you listen attentively sometimes you can read between the lines and take a pretty good guess where people are coming from.
Sometimes it is best to be content with the knowlege that you had the opportunity to say your peace and let it go at that.
I say all this in the hope that you be able to enjoy yourself here and also in the hope that I don't screw up and not practice what I am saying in the near future.

I am not trying to win an argument here, because I think winning this argument is impossible. Actually, if you look at peer reviewed papers on climate change, the percentage is closer to 99.7%. I don't have the number in front of me, but I just finished reading about it last week when updating a lecture.
I think regardless if whether our climate is in jeopardy or not we could still use a bit more tending to our planet. We need to do the impossible to do this though. Get people to stop thinking with their banks and borders.

That's all well and good, but I think the scientists are more concerned with how climate change will be detrimental to our ability to inhabit the earth.
