Is Bergantino NV610 a good cab for playing in drop A?

Title says it all, boys and girls. I decided D.I. no longer cuts it. I want some thump.

If you have any alternatives that pop into mind. I'm playing music that is primarily an acoustic guitar (detuned occasionally to A), a baritone guitar (C and A), and vocals. That means I use mostly clean warm tones on my bass (dingwall AB II), but I will still be going down to low A, and I need it to be defined.

I play BEADG five string, usually tuned down to BbEbAbDbGb, I play a lot of modern rock that goes below low E, and the Berg NV610 is my favorite cab, period.

Here's your answer: no bass guitar cab, sealed or ported, handles low A well... not the fundamental overtone. Only a biamp system with a dedicated high-quality subwoofer will get you that low. But here's something to consider: with a standard bass cab you will hear the lowest notes just fine even if the fundamental is missing, because a whole range of overtones are present in each note, and your brain will fill in that missing fundamental.

So: if you want to do the research to build yourself a proper biamp rig then I say go for it (warning: it ain't easy). For me, the Berg NV610 is heaven, even down low.

TB user Ron_Now of Bongripper uses this cab along with another Berg cab for low F. You'll be fine.

I've been fine in low F# with two amps and two 2x15's that are all from the 70's. I'm starting to think this business about how the fundamental won't be there in most equipment is a bunch of crap, or at least exaggerated a bit. I know what role psycho-acoustics play in filling in missing sound information, but even with my rig of ancient equipment, I can still hear the fundamental of low F#, granted it's not AS loud as the fundamental of higher notes, and this is because our ears become less sensitive to sound the lower you go. Doesn't mean it isn't there. I can certainly feel the fundamental way more than that of higher notes, which tells me it's definitely there.

I'm sure it would work just fine. You might want to check out the NV412 as well. It has a bit more oomph down low. Or an NV215 for that matter if you can find one...

I'd go for the NV215 or the NV412 myself, if you're going that low I'd assume a wider voiced cab would be more sensible (that's assuming you're down-tuned because you want a big low cushion under the mix rather than punching down the middle), but I don't doubt the NV610 would work just fine.

The lowest I've gone with my NV cabs is drop D, but even with this tuning the NV215 seems a bit better fit to me.

I also want to take the opportunity to say that the NV610 blew my socks off when I first heard a friend play through it, it blew my socks off when I bought it from him, and it's been blowing socks and panties off ever since. It is one amazing freaking cab paired with a powerful tube amp, that's all I have to say.
