I'm fairly new to playing bass, but when I played this one I LOVED it and bought it for $400. After doing some research, I am not confident in the authenticity of it. The bridge and the neck plate are particularly different than what I expected. The neckplate has the fender F logo. I can attach more photos when I'm home! Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Is is a real Fender Precision (MIM 2000)?

Well that's a real Fender MIM neck. I have 2 MIM Strats and the logo/color, serial # placement, and "Precision Bass" placement (although mine of course say Stratocaster) all seem to match. The serial # doesn't come up in the Fender database, though, and it's odd that the numbers have a different font. But I googled a bunch of MIM necks and some have a different font mid-serial #.
Did you take the neck off to check the end of it, and/or the body, for any date or other stamps? Also, what about under the PG? Need to see the pots......

no one is out there counterfeiting Mexican Fenders - probably just replacement parts
Are you sure about that? I see a screw in each corner of the bridge. It looks weird.

I love how it looks and feels, so I might just leave it at that. Replacement parts and a really nice neck !Looks like a pretty nice bass.
I'll also add that it does NOT look like a veneer, and a MIM sunburst from that era would have a veneer. It would have much less pronounced grain. The back would be black over the belly cut to hide the veneer too, but not the whole back.
With the closer pic of the bridge plate (4 screws), the grain, and the black back, I dont think that's the body or body hardware for a 2000s MIM P.

If you love the way it plays. If there are no issues with intonation and it stays in tune. Then you got a nice bass for $400.
Yeah…. Not sure about that bridge. If you’re going to pull the neck might as well pull off the pick guard too.
Soldering work will tell a story in itself.
Also, I’d be suspect of there isn’t even one chip of missing poly from the neck. My 2000 MIM are all showing flakes missing. It doesn’t take much to happen. Usually appears where the skunk strip meets maple.

Bridge is definitely not original MIM bridge. Neck plate is definitely not original neck plate.
People mod their MIM Fenders all the time, especially the older ones. Definitely a great deal at $400.

That’s my thought as well, but honestly for $400 I think it’s a fair deal seeing as the neck is real.
It was only $400 and you love it; why complicate your life?
