Is is a real Fender Precision (MIM 2000)?

Consensus seems to be a Mexican Fender neck on a mystery body with generally considered upgrades here and there. Might even have a better pickup than stock. I bought a Mexi burst P bass in 2000 and it had the burst and bridge shown in post 11. Definitely was a veneer on top and back. It convinced the noob me that it was a one piece body . The saddles on the stock bridge drove me nuts because they moved all over the place over time. I ended up wiring all the saddles together with twist ties.

F neck plate is a no big deal upgrade. Body is likely not Fender at all. I haven't seen a burst front with a black back - except on cheapo imports. I would like to still see "under the hood" but I agree it's a MIM neck, not a Fender body and that bridge is not original. At least it appears to be a high mass which is "better"...

The neck looks ok, at least original, but the body seems a bit off, shape, paint, and a bit small. The bridge and volume and tone knob are definitely not original, I suspect the body is from another bass (Asian made probably). Good luck. Just play it if it plays well and it set up correctly. But I don’t think it is fully original

The neck may be genuine, but the body looks off to me. The shape of the lower horn doesn’t seem quite right, although that may be lens distortion. But the belly cut-out is the wrong shape, and doesn’t extend far enough on the body. Taken together with the bridge, the pickguard and the knobs, it doesn’t quite add up, IMHO.

But if it plays well and sounds good, at least you have a decent bass on your hands.

I had a 2000 MiM Fender 'Standard' and it came with a single-ply pickguard, and Strat style knobs. I don't remember the bridge having the front screw holes like the one in the OP's pictures.

If yoj angle the saddles of the G and E string they usually provide enough pressure to keep everything in place.
