Is it a real Fender Jazz Bass?

Hi,

I found a jazz bass for sale but I don't know if it's a fake Jazz Bass or it's real.

I think it's a custom classic from 2001, but I'm not sure. Isn't it?

The headstock logo. I did't found the same Jazz Bass headstock in the web.

So, it's a Standard or a Custom Classic?

...and the spaghetti logo on the neck plate is not nicely done...

The serial number doesn't look quite right to me. The "Z" on my two 2006 basses doesn't look like that, plus, the letter and numbers look a bit too large, compared to my basses.

I can check it in two weeks because the seller is from my city but now is in a business trip. But he told me it doesn't come with fender hardcase.

I vote fake, but cool.
Serial number, decal, tuners, neckplate, inlays, skunk stripe, body joints all look off for a 2001 Fender MIA model.

The serial number looks strange. The tuners are MIM styled not MIA. That could put it as a Highway 1 but those never had blocks. The bridge is wrong. That neckplate is not a US neckplate that they use anymore. The body looks like a photoflame body but they didn't use bridges like that.

It is a fake for sure and one with unidentifiable parts.

That is a FAKE.

Definitly not a Fender, but some one went out of their way with a fake serial number and logo to pull the wool over someones eyes.


That seems to be a dolled up , possibly Chinese import, or maybe an old MIJ photo flame body with an aftermarket neck.

I`m no expert by any means - alot of guys here could better spot a fake with their eyes closed. I can`t say I`ve ever even seen a real one of these. But I find it a little hard to believe Fender let one of their high-dollar basses leave the shop with such bad inlay work and the pickguard / plate aren`t even a flush fit. But, what I can`t figure is - why would someone go through all that trouble and work to fake a newer Fender ? Just my thoughts; like I said, don`t take it from me.
