Ratings vary from company to company and often times even within the same brand. They are pretty useless numbers really. All these people try to get all scientific with it but it really doesn't matter. Just use your ears. Bottom line is a rig could make perfect sense on paper but if it sounds like crap i won't buy it. My ampeg classic cabs have lower power handling ratings than compared to other cabs For example my swr cabs. Its all a bunch of crap. Power handling, frequency ranges all of it. The only thing i would really consider is the cabs ohm rating as it is actually useful. other than that just use what sounds good. If your buying stuff without hearing it first try to get an opinion from someone who has that particular gear. I d also like to mention amps in different classes with the same power ratings are different. There's not a hundred watt class d amp on the planet as powerful as a hundred watts all tube amp. So that right there tells you something. If you don't believe me run a 300w svt through a 210 cab rated 300w and jam with some loud guitar players with half stacks. Chances are you'll either have the amp turned down so much you won here yourself at all or youll destroy the speakers very fast.
