I have met many, many people. All different ages, lots of lifestyles, different occupations, different religions, from many countries and speaking many languages.
Some of them are real dumb. Some of the dumb ones have lots of money anyway.
If you can drop $1M on what's probably a fair playing bass with a sticky painted neck, have at it.

Logs that have been underwater and salvaged are currently a big thing in acoustic instruments. It's called "sinker" wood, and commands a premium. Mahogany, rosewood, cedar....some are a hundred years old.

There was a really interesting video from DW Drums where they pulled out a (I think) 500 year old tree that had been underwater alot of that time. They made a set for Neil Peart.

So "The Tree" is worth $18,000,000 based on it's retail price of $1,500 per board foot. OK, it's pretty and unusual figure for mahogany, but.... I guess stuff really is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

If you can afford it I suppose it brings even more bragging rights than having Eric's or Stevie's favorite Strat, or owning the Ritter "Royal Flora" bass, which is a snip in comparison at only $250,000. (But it does have gold and diamond's and an ancient mammoth tusk nut.)

I did a setup one of the Ritter Royal basses made from bog wood a couple of years ago. It was a pretty wild piece.
