There's some striking grain patterns in the wood and the inlay detail is excellent. As collectors pieces to sit in a glass case they are great examples of workmanship, but as instruments, I can't see 1.5 million bucks worth of value.

I hope nobody scratched one of them while making the youtube clip....

Maybe someone like Donny will buy them, they'd look cool next to the gold elevators!

There is a native Tasmanian wood called Huon Pine. Examples have been found that have been submerged in water for 120 years. The wood is still perfectly usable. Needless to say, it’s was very popular with boat builders and is now very expensive and hard to get.

That should read 120,000 years. Sorry people, amazing but true.

Well there's value in what it costs to create this thing and then there's value in what use I will get out of it.
I for one, will not be getting 1million dollars worth of use value from this bass. Not at 50 years old I won't.

Agree. You’re correct. But you’re fighting a losing battle with that one. I’ve long since given up on the correct usage of that word. As Lexico puts it:

In its standard use, literally means ‘in a literal sense, as opposed to a nonliteral or exaggerated sense’: I told him I never wanted to see him again, but I didn't expect him to take it literally. In recent years, an extended use of literally (and also literal) has become very common, where literally (or literal) is used deliberately in nonliteral contexts, for added effect: they bought the car and literally ran it into the ground. This use can lead to unintentional humorous effects (we were literally killing ourselves laughing) and is not acceptable in formal English

This set of guitars & bass have been on reverb for quite sometime (I can't imagine why?!??) They are truly works of art, but I can't imagine someone spending that kind of money (let alone ever actually playing it). Unless some super-rich tycoon wants to purchase the set of 4 instruments and then put them in his personal museum.

The MFA in Boston has a permanent collection of music instruments "through-out the years" (ranging from stuff over 600 years old to present). That is about the only place I could see instruments like these end up .
