Sigh. Please. Stop touting this nonsense.
I'm an outsider on TB, but I'll tell you everyone on here loves 5-strings.
I find them way too heavy. The necks are massive to counter that extra tension.

I just want to say that I love fives largely because, as a young man, I fell under the spell of the great Anthony Jackson and I just had to have those low notes, however, I never heard Marcus Miller, Victor Bailey, Victor Wooten, Rocco Prestia, Jeff Berlin, etc. and thought “if he only could hit an Eb.” Great musicians know how to sound great with what they have.
I’ve actually found the opposite to be true, that the added mass of a 5 seems to beef up the tone in some instances.. But we all have different experiences, and it’s great to finally find what instrument suits us the best. Some people feel the added mass of a wider neck makes the tone of a 5 string bass different from (and not as good as) a 4 stringer.
And his son uses 6.Just remind them of how many strings Jaco needed
I'd say it took me about 6 months to get used to playing a fiver, so it sounds like your on track! Keep at it!
