HE wants $400 can for this thing and claims its a 2008. Well My first issue is where's the headstock decal?

I feel like offering him $50 lol or am I out to lunch?

I thought so as well, but what looked like clay dot fret markers kinda threw me. However, the truss rod adjustment appears to be at the heal!

Mos def not a $400 bass to me. Stripped paint, sanded head stock, what else has been hacked on it? Too many unknowns for me

2008 what?? ... the bridge and the case are worth $125 if decent at all .. I would want to see some pics of the back of body, neck and headstock, or better yet, if local go see it and take pics and send to us if you don't know what you are looking at ... wouldn't hurt to see the pickguard off and control cavity open as well, but all that is probably not likely on an inexpensive bass ... there are a lot of tell tale things to look at to identify, but without having pics (or in hand) doesn't help ... price is not out of the question, but would need to know more of what this started as, and what is left ... a thorough examination will answer all of these if you know what you are looking for ... it would definitely be of interest to me, but if you are not sure of what you are seeing, the old addage of "if in doubt of what to do, do nothing" may apply

Remember the price is Canadian, so I guess about 280 American. But I still think it's way over priced. I actually thought about offering him 50 to 100 because with a tort guard it would look kinda cool for blues gigs

For me, I'd pass. I'd just like to know why the headstock was sanded in such a way as to perfectly obscure the logo.

Totally agree, I feel like offering him 100 or less for it. Now if it had the decal and serial number and could prove it was say a heavy relic then I would go closer than 100, but nowhere near asking price! Now it does look a little like Tommy Shannon's old jazz, which to me would give it a cool look for a SRV tribute act but that's about it

... because it may play well, or have other quality components that would be of interest to someone ... playability and component desirability trumps shiney and new to some of us ... besides, the way it looks does not mean it needs to stay that way

... with all due respect, whats for lunch ?? ... that case is one of the first two generations of the 'machine gun' style, which can bring more than $50 easily if decent, even more if Red Label perhaps ... bridge is worth more than your offer as well ...

Mmm...I don't like it. For $400 you can probably score a very nice MIM that still has its finish AND decals!

Totally agree with you, I think it's way over priced. Like I mentioned earlier 50 to 100 is the most I would offer. Though I think if he holds out he may sucker someone for 250, won't be me though. I have a beautiful mint 2016 jazz that is not leaving my hands. If I did buy that bass it would be cheap and for a beater to take to a roudy bar gig or somewhere else where I would not want my good basses to go.
