Is Kalium having issues or is this normal?

Good luck!

I'm done doing business with them.

I've been using their strings for 3 years now (their hybrids are fantastic) and their custom system is perfect when you have specific needs (tension, scale...). I just asked the forum if other users had shipping problem in recent orders, which can happen sometimes when you're not a big company.

There's no way I plan to turn my back on them :-)

I used to be their customer for more than three years. I will just not deal with a company not answering mails - especially companies on a different continent from me. Canceling my order was easier than getting an answer to what happened to my order.

Still no answer from Kalium so I've asked a Paypal refund. I need strings for recording so I'll have to find a new strings company and test them before entering the studio.

EDIT : strings shipped

If things seem to go back to normal, I might consider to order at Kalium again.

Anyone knows another manufacturer that makes single strings for custom sets (otherwyse, I'll check d'addario).

What is everybody using instead now? Trying to find a tonally aggressive string that's tapered on E and B with the B being at least bigger than .130 is like pulling teeth. Tried ordering some stuff from BSO but everything is back ordered for months.

Looking at LaBella and Ken Smith.

I play Dingwall basses, so I've gone to Payson. They've got various gauges for fan fret basses.

Hehe.

Arkhon06, unfortunately, reading other's experiences, it seems that for the last year it has been 'normal' for Kalium to sometimes take 2-3 weeks to dispatch, although some customers experience fast dispatch. They have some stock but i guess it's possible that some strings may be out of stock and need to be wound for an order. Facepalmingly-obviously they should warn customers of this and possible dispatch time.
The frequent lack of communication is 'normal' for Kalium too.
Just thought i'd warn people to reduce concerns for those who order. However i still consider their fundamental philosophy, intent and approach to strings the best thing to ever happen to the guitar string industry.

Everything's true here, you just have to order very early if you have a deadline (tour/recording) :-)

I'm with you on their strings. It's a shame that they're doing so poorly with shipments and communication. I talked to one of their people a while ago and from the sounds of it he was aware of what was going on, but people above him at the food chain didn't care enough to change what they're doing. Maybe someday I'll try ordering from them again, but I don't think that will be anytime soon.

Sorry that is incorrect info. I waited more than 5 weeks, sent several mails, none of which were answered. Those are the facts - at least for me. When was the last time you ordered anything from Kalium?
