Is search of a Smith

Ok, here is the deal. I once had a Ken Smith. I bought it after I sold everything to pay my daughter Doctor bills, it was a very special bass. I got it back and a few years later when I was buying the assets of the old TBC company (pipe dream that failed) like a fool I sold it again.
I have searched for years trying to get it back. Last I knew it was over in Taiwan.

After decades of struggling, I’m finally in a position where I can pay my bills and not have to sell off a bass every time something moves sideways.

So can you help me TB to find my old Smith, or a similar PJ Smith?

I’ve talked with Ken, they didn’t do very many like this and don’t build them the same way. Ken feels it’s inferior.

Honestly by the time I completely refinished it, reglued the fretboard, and had Carl Pedigo swap the pick ups it was more of a collaborative effort

Okay, give us something we can work with.

Where did you sell it, and when? What contact details do you have for the buyer? How were you paid? What correspondence do you have?

You need to take us back to the sale. Unless we get a lucky hit of someone seeing this thread, we are going to need to establish the chain of hands it passed through and go from buyer to buyer until we find it. These sorts of cases are easily cracked when the records are there.

Dec 2011 to Notejung here on TB, Note sold or traded it about 6 months after. He doesn’t remember to who. I believe he said it went to Tawain or Thailand

If it has left the country where it was a originally sold, tracking it down will be much harder. Particularly when there is a language barrier.

Where was the bass originally sold? Did you sell it to a TB'er in the same country and he subsequently exported it?

When I sold it Note had a USA address, but I learned that it was to a freight forwarder, NoteJung, does not have the info of who he traded it too.
Note is in Thailand
