Honestly its not as awesome of an idea as it sounds like. I was really excited the first time I did it, but it was kind of disappointing. I just kinda drank some beer, washed my hair and body, then just kinda stood there and drank my beer. It also heats your beer up. It just wasn't all I had hoped it would be.
Now drinking and taking a bath sounds like fun, but I probably haven't taken a bath since I was 6 years old.
I smoke about 20-25 a day (gradually trying to quit, down from 40+ a day), but have never had a smoke in the shower. If it were one of those things where you are running VERY late, I could imagine it would make things time efficient. But if I were running that late, I wouldn't have a shower.
However, the shower beer is something I have indulged in MANY times. Most of the time, it was when I was at my best mate's house (we were ALWAYS drunk, I have stopped drinking altogether since) but any other time, it was at a party and either someone else or I have thrown up on me. Such events never used to sway my thirst, must be an Aussie thing lol.
I enjoy having a smoke whilst dropping a deuce, but I can only do it in my apartment at home and when the wife isn't around. One of the more perculiar things that I and my gamefishing crewmates do is smoke when fighting large gamefish. Most gamefisherman frown upon this as the risk of cigarette embers burning through your line is a VERY real factor. But the way I see it is; you are usually in for a long, drawn out battle and the harness you wear holds the rod for you, so your hands are free. If the poor bloke who has to do the reel-crankin' has been at it for an hour and I have had a smoke or two whilst watching him work up a sweat, why not give him a 5 minute rest period to have a cigarette if he is careful?? We can accommodate boat position to ensure tension remains on the fish and he can get his nicotine hit. It's usually the non-smoking skippers who have the issue
