the composing/arranging technique of writing part of a solo passage into other parts as a helpful device to help players know where they are? The notes are not played, only displayed. Thanks in advance.

I've always heard them called cues.
...and the way a lot of broadway scores get cut down by the time they are touring, I've ended up playing a lot of them...usually horn, cello, trombone, etc.

I have always used the term cue.Cues, huh? Nothing in Italian?
This may work if you insist on Italian: battuta d'entrata Not sure if it works for music. The examples I found seem to relate to cues for when to start your lines in a speech or play.
I'll have to ask around later for a more specific or Italian or English term, but in German these are mostly just called "Kleinstichnoten" because they are set in a smaller font than the rest of the printed music.
