i think you just answered your own question
you talked about music being im "your blood"
whether you "make it" or not is mostly up to fate or dumb luck
when i was in my mid twenties i also had the dream to make it
and actually played with some guys that did
in my early 30's i knew the dream had passed
and foolishly, i quit playing
i stopped playing for 16 years, i always tinkered with the idea of playing again
but was worried i would suck after all this time away
last year, i was layed up from work with an injury
bored out of my skull
i picked up the bass again, and yes I did suck.... alot......lol
but that didn't matter
i was "home"
that was 8 months ago
now I am in 2 giging bands, playing all ther time
and probably even a better player that i was in my 20's
So i guess what i want to say is
when you put your heart and soul into somthing, it becomes a part of you
and thats the real reward
