Is there a small Tuner pedal that will work off 9v battery

Yes, 3 hours continuos tuning with the display on.
Approximately 3 hours (A4 continuous input, tuner on, display mode: Regular mode)

Most of the time my tuner is off. How long it lasts off but plugged in is the interesting thing to me.

Ouch! Not nearly long enough for me to get through most gigs. I'd have to plug and unplug every time I wanted to tune. I'll stick with my Unitune clip-on. I just changed the battery two weeks ago after a year.

Some tuners don't use any battery power when switched off even when cables are connected.

The Turbo Tuner ST-300 is one such: their website lists this as a feature, and I can confirm from personal experience of having had mine permanently plugged in on my pedalboard for most of this year that it's still going strong on the original battery.

Get a Pitch Black or failing that a Mini Pitch Black. My Polytune was not picking up notes two years after I bought it... the jacks came loose really easily and I didn't think the display was great either. Other than that, perfect!

Its a mono gig bag - the upper pocket is large enough but I have some other items I like to keep in there as well. I think I'll just figure out how to get the TC Polytone 3 in the larger lower pocket - most of the suggested pedals are not enough smaller to make a difference and as pointed out - it can only be so small and include a 9v battery. Thanks for all the suggestions!

That d'addario Chromatic Pedal Tuner tuner I posted earlier is smaller and still runs off a 9v or adapter.

Yeah that D'Addario is not really small. You can see how it would compare to the full sized Polytune in this picture, as the full size PolyTune is the same size as the red pedal next to the D'Addario:

2.1mm adapter to a battery clip. Easy, cheap and quick replacement of the battery since its external to the pedal. Now you can use whatever pedal tuner you want.

I have the Polytune clip on tuner and its great but on my custom '54 style P bass there is barely enough room on the headstock to get a solid clip and its right were the builder signed and numbered the headstock so looking for a pedal alternative if there is one.

This is seeming to be getting more complex than it needs to be. If you use a clip-on tuner don't leave it on the headstock - clip it on, tune, remove it. I put mine on my music stand so it's easy to reach. Will also clip onto a mic boom or cable, or sit next to your water bottle.

+1 for the D'Addario. Everyone in my band has one...they track reliably and quickly. And no trouble running off battery power.

Also: no trouble seeing the display in daylight on festival stages (pretty important!)...can't say the same for most other pedal tuners I've used.

I use the Korg Pitchblack on my pedal board. If I don't have my pedal board on me, I actually use an app on my phone called Pitchlab Lite. It works awesome, seems fairly accurate, has a few modes for different styles.

I can highly recommend the Korg Pitchblack Mini. Powered off a watch battery which is long-lasting, bright, clear display and sensitivity are great for bass. Small footprint. Even the side-extendable feet are a nice touch so it doesn't wobble around when you step on the foot switch. If you need SMALL, this is it.

After a couple of years of use, and nearly a year of regular heavy use, I FINALLY had to change the battery on my TurboTuner.
My Korg Pitchblack can't hold a Lumen from its LED to my Turbo.
