Is there any other option than black?

I think I know the answer to this, but I would love to see some pics and get some ideas from other TBers. I'm building a 70's vibe PJ with blocked maple neck and butterscotch nitro paint. The body has a slight relic and the neck and tuners are actually from the 70's. I would like to see your butterscotch basses to get an idea of pick guard choices. I'm pretty sure black is the way to go, but lets see what's out there. I have a tort and a white guard here so I snapped a few pics to see what you thought

black may be more traditional, but traditional can be boring.

With a rosewood board, I would have say white, white perloid or tort. But with a maple neck, you can't go with anything except black !

I agree that tort is more vintage, but I'm looking for a certain vintage that stops around '76 on this one. I have it setting here in my living room (waiting for pickups, pots and ashtrays) with the tort guard on it and it looks really good, but I think it might look a little too vintage. If the neck didn't have the blocks, the tort would be a no-brainer for me.

I knew I was going to vote white or tort, until I saw the maple and blocks. Gotta go with the black and abalone or pearl would probably look great.

I gotta go with the classic flat black one.

I have a butterscotch - maple Stratocaster (hah i know i know), that came with the black pickguard. I tried the vintage creamy white one on it, the classic tort, and a black pearl one, till i switched back to the plain black one.... The rest of em just didnt feel/seem right after a day or two.

IMO, the white looks surprisingly good. But if I was to pick any other colour, it would be black.

Seriously on a natural finish any black or white, pearloïd or not, should do it for me... I prefer the tortoises one on the sunburst finishes...

A chrome/mirror one could be nice too, look at the Steve Harris basses...

If it has black blocks, anything will look good on it EXCEPT for tort. IMO
